The Bangladesh Cricket Team has been dealt a shock blow ahead of their tour of India as Khalid Mahmood has stepped down from the BCB role.

They are all set to arrive in Chennai later this week ahead of the first test starting September 19.

However, even before the Bangladesh team left, one of the key members of the organization submitted his resignation. In fact, Khalid Mahmud resigned from the position of director Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Days before departure on Wednesday 11th September India.

The former Bangladesh captain’s resignation comes after former BCB president Nazmul Hasan stepped down following a caretaker government headed by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Muhammad Yunus.

Hasan’s speech caused many high-ranking BCB members to watch themselves. Mahmood’s resignation after a shake-up at the BCB and Bangladesh Government also appears to be part of the drama, with many claiming that political changes forced him to cut short his third term on the board.

Mahmood has left an indelible mark on Bangladesh cricket with his leading role and dedication to the game. He played a very important role in shaping the future of cricket in Bangladesh, especially when he was at the helm of game development.

But Mahmoud was not the only one who left BCB after the recent dramas in the country. Other heavyweights like Jalal Yunus, Shafiul Alam Chowdhury and Naimur Rahman also left the board following the departure of former president Hasan. Notably, the Bangladesh cricket team recently made history by winning the Test series 2-0 in Pakistan. This remarkable clean sweep by Pakistan in the two-match Test series is a historic milestone for Bangladesh as it was only their third Test series win on foreign soil.

Bangladesh’s previous away Test series wins were against the West Indies in 2009 and Zimbabwe in 2021. The Tigers’ dominant performance against Pakistan will be remembered as their landmark achievement.

The Bangladesh players will now aim to replicate their memorable performance in India when they face the hosts in the two-match Test series and the three-match T20I series.
