As the 2024 Major League Baseball season draws to a close, the waves will turn to free agency and see where some big name players end up.

The Los Angeles Dodgers took care of the New York Yankees to win the World Series in five games.

Some big names will test the waters in free agency this offseason, including Juan Soto, Pete Alonso and Anthony Santander.

While there are some huge names in free agency, MLB analyst Chris Gimenez says left-handed pitcher Tanner Scott is an intriguing free agent to watch.

“To me, he’s one of the most exciting offseason free agents,” Jimenez said.

Scott came to the San Diego Padres from the Miami Marlins during the 2024 regular season and appears to have made a name for himself during the postseason.

Jimenez notes that Scott was able to completely shut out Shohei Ohtani in the National League Division Series against the Dodgers.

Scott appeared in four games in the NLDS, throwing 3.0 innings and allowing two hits, zero earned runs and one walk while striking out five.

Jimenez notes that the San Francisco Giants could be a potential buyer for Scott because they are division rivals with the Dodgers and Scott is a left-handed pitcher.

The Giants could potentially be their closer for the next few years, and that would allow them to have left-handed pitching with both Ohtani and the Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman.

It will be interesting to see if Jimenez is right and the Giants keep an eye on Scott this offseason.
