The New York Yankees made their first World Series appearance since 2009 after winning the American League East.
Even though the Yankees lost the World Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers and then lost superstar Juan Soto in free agency, they appear to be well on their way to the 2025 season.
The Yankees have added other key players such as starter Max Fried, relief pitcher Devin Williams, outfielder Cody Bellinger and most recently, first baseman Paul Goldschmidt.
“To me, this is the right move at the right time, not only for the Yankees, but for Goldie,” analyst Chris Gimenez said via Sirius XM’s MLB Network Radio.

Jimenez talks about the Yankees’ failure to keep Soto as a blessing that allowed them to bring in other key veterans.
Goldschmidt is a 14-year veteran who played eight seasons for the Arizona Diamondbacks before going to the St. Louis Cardinals.
He struggled a bit in 2024, hitting .245 with 22 home runs, 65 RBI and a .716 OPS in 154 games.
Jimenez said he believes joining the Yankees gives Goldschmidt time to figure things out without the offense relying solely on him.
The Yankees appear to have somewhat recovered from the loss of Soto and will likely be a World Series contender again in 2025.
