It’s a testament to the depth of the talent pool on both sides of the tournament, but it’s not all perfect — the Americans are still searching for their first men’s Grand Slam winner since 2003, and there’s not one talent in the Top-10.
Tiafoe, who reached his first Masters 1000 final in Cincinnati, returned to the Top-20 on Tuesday. He is one of three active American men to reach at least the semi-finals at a major, along with Ben Shelton and Tommy Paul – an American has not reached a major final since Andy Roddick at Wimbledon in 2009.
On the women’s side, Gauff is the only Grand Slam champion among current Americans in the Top-20. She won the US Open title in 2023, becoming the first American women’s Slam champion since Sofia Kenin in 2020.
