Provide tgl some loans. There were positive steps in its 6-week- Rory Mcilroy Vs Tiger Woods Night stands like a big victory – but also the nights where the action fell flat. So assigning a triple head to the day of the presidents-and without forests on the Tee sheet-it is brave.
I was not sure it could provide enough juice for a 10-hour loss in ESPN and ESPN 2, but we would discover. The answer was terrible yes.
The day set off for an annoying start with an overtime match between the Atlanta Drive and the Los Angeles Golf Club, including a Chip by Justin Thomas who sent the match to OT, followed by an opening by Tommy Fleetwood during the extra frame.
Monday was a show in what the league is doing properly-competing golf in an environment that allows the characters to shine-giving hope to find long-term success. The boss among Monday’s successes was the change in the rules of TGL’s “Hammer”, which gave each team three “Hammer” thrown throughout the match.
Instead of having Patrick Cantlay Pocket Hammer’s flag because “EV” is not worth it, you had Rory Mcilroy and Keegan Bradley discussing Hammer’s strategy during the high end of loss to Bay Golf Club. While the players are clearly learning the hammer’s best strategy, the regulation rule injected the more competitive life in the procedure.
Another big part of Monday’s success was the investment of players in the matches. Maybe more than any before, they showed real power
All the 14 players playing Monday also competed in the La Jolla Generals Invitational, Calif. Everyone, but two made the cut and many of them – including the champion of Ludwig Aberg – had late time on the west coast, not arriving in Florida until early Monday morning. It would be easy to see some of the players give a lukewarm effort on Monday, but on the contrary there was a unanimous purchase.
You had Justin Thomas walking in puts and rolling on the ground when Lucas Glover rejected from green. KEEGAN BRADLEY retired probably the biggest night hit with a chip on a bunker, celebrating as if he won the Super Bowl. The fist pumps were flying from Aberg, Fleetwood, Wyndham Clark and Hideki Matsuyama. Chip-ins and stroke were falling from anywhere. Mcilroy and Aberg dueluan in whim.
The formula has always been about the best players in the world by taking care of and joining viewers to invest in the result. If they care, the viewer cares.
TGL seems to know what it is and what it is not. Mcilroy and Woods have been ahead of the wishes of the league to be extra in the professional landscape. They do not want her to be a golf replacement, but hope she can come up with interest from people who are not related to traditional golf. In the half of its first season, TGL seems to have a competitive identity. She has a feeling in the backyard, playing around with college friends, only with the best players on the planet, everyone is competitive psychology.
The players also seem to be putting in their role as fun. Banter would never be a draw, but we are now acquiring knowledge in their thought processes and how they feel about other players in the league. This was never more visible than in their comment about Aberg.
“Ludwig is just different,” Mcilroy said after Aberg hit the longest car in TGL history. “He’s feeling himself now.”
In the second match, Thomas discussed how rare it is for Aberg to hit a bad blow.
Then is Clark, who is becoming one of the broken tgl stars because of his constant monologue and willingness to throw barbas into the opposing team.
Despite Monday’s good times, TGL remains imperfect.
Tech simulator still needs polishing. We can’t have Cantlay Club-Twirling while its shooting sails straight and in bunker. He and Thomas were caught in their MIC discussed how the ball was heading towards the simulator. This is not ideal.
It is right to wonder if TGL, which has the two largest golf movers in Woods and Mcilroy, need some other big names to be involved. Can Scottie Scheffler and Jordan Spieth get? What about Bryson Dechambeau, Jon Rahm or Brooks Koepka, in a world where they are welcomed again in PGA Tour?
TGL has displayed a versatility and adaptation during the first season, and we can expect larger twigs in the outside season. But halfway during his inaugural season, Vrulli seems to be moving exclusively in the positive direction.
