Teofimo Lopez blasts “Punk” Haney

Teofimo Lopez told Devin Haney he was thinking about his 25th fight and called him a “punk b***” on social media. WBO light welterweight champion Lopez (21-1, 13 KOs) seems bitter that Devin did not accept an offer to fight him.

The offer was $2.4 million with a 55-45 split in favor of Teofimo, who feels he deserves the bigger cut for being the “king” of the 140-lb division. Haney is just a former champion and is coming off a loss to Ryan Garcia on April 20th.

The wolves circle Haney

Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) will next fight on March 25th on BLT Prime against an opponent yet to be announced. The boxing public will be very interested to see who Haney faces on that date as he can pick almost anyone.

Fighters aren’t afraid to fight Haney after Garcia exposed him in a 12-round majority decision victory. He looked so bad in that loss to Kingry that the Wolves circled him at 140 and saw him as easy prey.

Devin hit the deck three times in that fight, and many believe the referee saved him from being knocked out in the seventh round by stopping the action to take a point away from Ryan for striking during the stoppage.

At the time, Haney was about to be knocked out by Garcia. Since the New York State Athletic Commission later overturned Haney’s loss, it wouldn’t have mattered if Ryan had knocked him out.

Teofimo is expected to fight former IBF 140-lb champion Subriel Matias (21-2, 21 KOs) on March 15 on ESPN+ in a top-ranked card. Lopez had a hard time getting the big names to fight him.

He called out Terence Crawford, Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, Haney, Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis. The only ones interested in fighting Lopez are lightweight contenders Keyshawn Davis and Matias. He’s not interested in fighting Keyshawn because he’s not a star.
