HomeBoxing Boxing Teofimo and Matias complete agreement for March 15 WBO title fight By NetSPORT December 23, 2024 0 108 FacebookTwitterPinterestWhatsApp By Boxing News – 23/12/2024 – Commentary Subriel Matias and Teofimo Lopez are close to a deal for a March 15th fight for Teo’s WBO 140-pound title on ESPN PPV. Former IBF light welterweight champion Matias (21-2, 21 KOs) will look to become a two-time 140-lb champion against Lopez. Trade closes Matchroom-promoted Matias has fought once since losing his IBF belt to Liam Paro on June 15, and is looking to dethrone Lopez. “Teofimo Lopez and Subriel Matias are finalizing a deal for a March 15 fight for Lopez’s WBO junior welterweight title, sources told ESPN. Fight will headline ESPN+ PPV. There is no place yet for this action fight between one of the sport’s top fighters and a former champion,” said Mike Coppinger X. Teofimo has been campaigning for a big fight for the past four years, but his promoters have failed to offer him anything compelling. Matias might be the best Lopez can hope for right now until something opens up for him. A loss to Matias would be devastating for Lopez, who has won his last five fights since his loss to George Kambosos Jr. on November 27, 2021.
