TaylorMade is launching a new Spider Tour X Proto.

While Scottie Scheffler eventually settled on one off-the-rack Spider Tour X shooter this year, propelling him to an incredible seven-win season on the PGA Tour, some of the other clubs he tried along the way also garnered plenty of interest.
Sheffler tested – and briefly put into play — a unique Spider Tour X prototype during the 2023 FedEx Cup Playoffs with a milled face instead of the usual TaylorMade Pure Roll insert. In addition to the milled face, which was on a large plate bolted to the front of the tire, the prototype also lacked adjustable weight gates at the rear. In their place were hollow sections to hold the shaping with two TSS weight ports moved forward in the sole.
All of these changes gave Scheffler the benefits of the Spider Tour X shape while maintaining the blade-like characteristics he was used to from his previous players.

Spider Tour X Proto Black
500 dollars
Originally a tour exclusive, the Spider Tour X Proto is now available in limited quantities. This rare design has been meticulously engineered to move the center of gravity (CG) as far forward as possible while maintaining Spider’s signature True Path™ alignment and structural stability.
That shooter didn’t last long in Scheffler’s bag, and it was assumed that his shot would end up as a tour-only creation. But last fall TaylorMade surprised many by releasing a limited amount of the Spider Tour X Proto’s with Scheffler’s ground insert.
Now, TaylorMade is bringing the prototype back for another limited run.
This time, however, the barrel comes with a new black finish, while the gun’s original finish is also an option. Both new Spider Tour X Proto Black and Gunmetal are available in petite slouchy and L-neck options for $500.
The only difference between the new edition released on Monday and last year’s version is the all-black finish that extends to the True Path alignment system on the top of the device. Even the sight line remains black against the black tip to create a striking visual contrast to the white golf balls.
