Josh Taylor against Ekow Essuman and Moses Itauma against Mike Balogun today for their fights on Saturday, May 24, in Glasgow. Former undisputed lights welterweight champion Taylor (19-2, 13 COs) appeared optimistic and hit the scale for his debut on 147 against Essuman (21-1, 8 COs).
Saturday’s event is displayed Live on dazn and performed at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland. Taylor, 34, has appeared nonchalantly nowadays and acted as if his victory against Essuman was already assured.

Weights
Josh Taylor – 146.8 against Ekow Essuman – 146.4
Moses Itauma 254 against Mike Balogun 241
Taylor’s career on the right track
Josh must be tense because he has been in the fight since 2022 with a record that is probably 0-3. Taylor lost his last two fights, and many Boxing fans believe he should have lost his first collision against Jack Catterall in 2022. The experts believe that Josh’s war against Jose Ramirez took something out of him in May 2021 and made him vulnerable to his last three competition. It was Taylor’s downfall.
I hate to say that, but Taylor’s career is on the right track on Saturday. He can pretend to be just another struggle for him, but his situation is bad. A loss of domestic level fighter Essuman is the end of the line for the Scottish boy.
Josh probably won’t retire, but fans and fighters will look at him as a hash, which he already is. Losing to Catterall has shown that Taylor is no longer world class. It is a man who would be food for the top 147 pound.
Itauma’s weight and future concerns
The heavyweight Moses Itauma (11-0, 9 COs) came in at 254 pounds for his 10-pound battle against second-level fighter Mike Balogun (21-1, 16 COs). The 6’2 ″ itauma looked soft to the weight and looked like he was wearing too much bulk for its height. He is getting away with it now, but he will not tackle contenders. He will probably go well with this tomato tin, but if his promoters match him against Martin Bakole, he will probably be exposed.
Itauma is hit too much because it is against the cans he fought. If he does not cut off and focus on his defense, he will lose like Bakole, Joseph Parker, Agit Kabayel and Richard Torrez Jr.
Is it Josh Taylor 2.0?
“This is Josh Taylor 2.0. This is the beginning of it, and I am in the way of it. I’m going to do a good job tomorrow night,” Taylor said at Today’s weigh-in For his fight this Saturday against Ekow Essuman in Glasgow, Scotland. “It’s going to be a comprehensive victory for myself.”
It sounds like Wishful Thinking by Taylor, because I believe it’s a new beginning for him. If he could have turned his career, he would have had by this time and would not have lost to Catterall and Theofimo Lopez.
“Josh Taylor has had only one fight a year since 2020. That’s not enough,” said Dazn commentator Ade Oladipo.
“No, it’s not. He did not fight regularly enough, but of course he was not on the greatest form of form in terms of victories and losses, ‘said commentator Carl Frampton. “He lost his last two and then returned to Jack Catterall (in their first fight in 2022), and everyone thought he also lost the one.
“It’s a must-win for Josh. I think it fits him now to be out of the section, to be out of light welter weight. He had to do it long ago, and he did it now. I think we’re going to see a renewed Josh Taylor with an extra seven pounds. There will be a lot more energy, ‘says Frampton.
