Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is pushing for the possible transfer of Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen.
The international aspect of Denmark very likely to leave Barça in the near futurewith the current expectation of being able to leave with an initial loan with a view to a permanent assignment of 18 million euros.
This according to a report by All Fileswho claims talks have already taken place with Man United, who have moved ahead of Newcastle in the race for Christensen’s signature.
Christensen could be a useful signing to add depth and experience to this United squad, although he may not be the player he was at the height of his career.
IMPORTANT The Liverpool star will miss the Man United game!
The 28-year-old was a key player for Chelsea when he was younger, and initially got off to a promising start when he joined Barcelona, although a combination of fitness and form issues means has now lost its place.
Andreas Christensen could do a job at Manchester United
Despite this, one imagines Christensen could be a player in United’s squad at the very least, with Amorim needing more options at the back.
The Red Devils are having a bad season so they could make as many changes as possible in order to give their new manager the cultural reset he needs.
Christensen would surely be an upgrade for the likes of Victor Lindelof, and perhaps Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez as well.
Christensen would probably not be an automatic starter at Old Trafford, so it remains to be seen whether he will definitely choose this option over others if there are eventually teams willing to give him a bigger role.
Still, with Amorim playing three at the back, it should mean Christensen gets opportunities to play quite often and rotate with others in United’s squad.
