T20 World Cup 2026: Michael Vaughan suggests a change in India’s playing XI for semi-final against England

The stage is set for an exciting contest India He will face England in the second semi-final ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 At the famous Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The clash between the two cricketing powerhouses, with a place in the final at stake, created a lot of excitement among fans and pundits alike. Both teams have been in impressive form throughout the tournament and have match winners that can turn the game around in a matter of minutes.

India relied on a balanced combination of explosive batting and disciplined bowling to reach the play-offs, while England once again displayed their aggressive brand of T20 cricket. Given the quality of players on both sides, the encounter promises to be a high-intensity battle under the lights at one of India’s most famous venues.

Amid growing anticipation, the former England captain Michael Vaughan came up with a tactical suggestion for the Indian team management ahead of the crucial knockout match.

Michael Vaughan picks one change in India’s XI for the semi-final

Speaking on Cricbuzz, Vaughan suggested that India should consider bringing in a left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav He was included in the playing XI for the semi-final against England. According to the former England captain, Kuldeep’s experience against England teams makes him a potentially dangerous weapon in the high-pressure game.

“I would play Kuldeep Yadav. Kuldeep has been the toast of England in every format over the years. He has always been a bowler who has struggled for England selection.” Vaughan said when discussing the possible unification of India.

Vaughan questioned whether India necessarily needed additional batting depth in the lower middle order and said a specialist spinner could offer more value against England’s attacking line-up.

“Need Tilak Varma or Shivam Dube up the order? Instead, I would play left-arm against England. We don’t know if Kuldeep is fit as he is not playing. But it will be a good matchup for India against England.” he added.

The former England captain also admitted that the current team strategy under India coach Gautam Gambhir favors batting depth, which could reduce the likelihood of Kuldeep’s inclusion.

“But Gautam Gambhir’s history is generally about picking up the innings. He builds T20 teams where you have really strong insurance at 7, 8 and 9. So potentially what I said won’t happen, but it was worth playing Kuldeep against this batting England line-up,” Vaughan explained further.

Kuldeep has historically troubled several England batsmen with his variations, particularly his deceptive bowling and flight, making him a strong tactical option in high-pressure matches.
