T Dilip picks India’s Series Field winners after India vs Bangladesh Tests


Team India coach T Dilip praised the Indian players for their performance in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh. T Dilip has named Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mohammed Siraj as the frontrunners for the Fielder of the Series award against Bangladesh.

India has a dressing room tradition of rewarding exceptional fielding performances with medals after every bilateral series. T Dilip highlighted some of the impressive catches made by the players during India’s dominant performance against Bangladesh after a seven-wicket win against the visitors in Kanpur.

In a video shared by the BCCI, Dilip praised the Indian players for their magnificent performances against Bangladesh in tough conditions in Chennai and Kanpur. Dilip praised the batting line-up and the catchers for their exceptional efforts on the field.

“I think whether it was the humidity in Chennai or the tough weather in Kanpur, I feel something was constant, the intention to turn those half chances into game-changing moves was very clear. Well done! Special mention to our batting line-up and in conditions where Reflexes and concentration were tested, they were absolutely magnificent ,” said Dilip.

I thought two people deserved this medal – T Dilip

During the video, T Dilip named Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mohammed Siraj as prominent performers of the series. The fielding coach said Jaiswal and Siraj were joint winners of the Series Impact Medals in a traditional ceremony in the dressing room.

“I think this time we are two winners for it because I felt the effort we went for and Rohit said our catch percentage in this Test was 97% which is really commendable. I thought two people deserve this medal and one person who passed every the game showed great intent and none other than Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mohammed Siraj,” said Dilip.

Yashasvi Jaiswal took two remarkable catches in the slip cordon in the second Test match. The young opener produced a stunning finish to dismiss Zakir Hasan in the first innings. He went down to his right to complete the catch and the TV umpire confirmed that Jaiswal had caught the ball safely.

Jaiswal took another impressive catch to dismiss Shadman Islam in the second over. Shadman settled well at the crease after scoring a half-century. The Indian player showed quick reflexes and secured the catch in just 0.53 seconds. He was brilliant on the field throughout the last Test series.

Mohammed Siraj took an impressive catch as he backpedaled in the first innings to dismiss Ravichandran Ashwin who mistimed Shakib Al Hasan. KL Rahul took a fantastic catch to remove Mominul Haque on the fifth and final day of the Kanpur Test in the final home series.
