We’ve all been there: things are going well, then all of a sudden, your swing goes out. As you score balloons, panic sets in. How can you fix the ship?
GOLF Top 100 Teachers Trillium Rose has a simple arrangement. In a video posted on Titleist’s YouTube channelRose explains a simple movement you can do between shots to reset your body and mind for success.
“Sometimes, in the middle of the round, you can feel like you lose your swing, and it’s happened to all of us,” Rose said. “The key here is just to get the feeling back.”
Rose suggests focusing on maintaining a proper spine angle during the swing. When a golf swing goes off the rails, it may be because you are lifting or bouncing off the swing through impact. To fix this, all you need is a club.
“If you’re losing spine angle or jumping out of it, put the club behind your shoulders, extend the handle to the right—or to your side of the track—and then lean into ATTITUDES“, she said. “Slowly go through the motion and really feel it through impact, that tightness that shows off the ball.”
If pitch or bounce is the source of your trouble, you’ll likely find that your grip is pointing to the horizon line instead of off the ball.
“That’s not a good thing,” Rose said.
At the very least, this workout is useful for getting you out of a mid-life funk because it forces you to think about an important foundation: posture.
“Get the feeling,” Rose said. “Think about what it’s like in your legs, what muscles you have to tune it, and that should be a helpful thought for you just to get everything back on track.”
