Former world number 3 Svitolina has announced that she has undergone surgery in a post on Instagram.
“So unfortunately my 2024 season is now in the history books as I had surgery on my foot today to correct a long standing problem that I have been trying to manage all year,” Svitolina posted on Instagram. “This is the same issue that ended my season in 2023 and has hindered me for most of 2024. It has become harder to manage and has affected me more and more, not only in terms of tennis and training, but also in my daily life.
“BUT NOW… I’m excited for the opportunity to focus on my recovery and come back even stronger than before. I’m determined to do whatever it takes to get back on the court and compete at the highest level high.”
30-year-old Svitolina owns 17 career championships.
