There is no secret to adapting to circumstances – Suryakumar Yadav

Speaking at the presentation ceremony after the match, Indian team captain Suryakumar Yadav said that he has very definite plans for the series against South Africa. Suryakumar Yadav said:

“There is no secret to adapting to the conditions. As soon as we landed in Durban, our plans were very clear. Even though we are leading the series 2-1, today we wanted to follow good habits and not worry about the result. It happened naturally.”

Suryakumar Yadav further said that coming into the series against South Africa with a T20 World Cup win earlier in the year has boosted their confidence. He said:

“It’s really hard for me to pick one good knock from them, we talked about it and they literally kept the conversation going. When we were on tour last year, once the lights went up and the temperature dropped, we knew there was something on this door.

“When you win any ICC tournament, it’s a big boost. It was hard to sum up what was going through our minds when we won there. It’s tough when you tour South Africa, it’s a special win and it will stay with me forever.”

Suryakumar Yadav signed off by talking about the role of the VVS Laxman-led coaching staff in India’s series win. He said that the coaches just enjoy the show and they lend a hand to the players.

“They (the coaching staff) were sitting and enjoying the show, talking to the boys and saying, ‘Do whatever you want, we’ll sit back and enjoy it. They said today, you bat first, put runs on the board, do it,'” Suryakumar Yadav said.
