For all intents and purposes, the new year has only just begun, but reigning WITB king Adam Scott is already shaking things up. Since his Three-shot experiment at the BMW PGA Championship in September, Scott has mostly used the old faithful: the LAB Mezz.1 Max Sweeper. But that’s why we love Adam – his bag is never safe. During yesterday’s practice round at the Farmers Insurance Open, Scott was seen playing games as well OZ.1 HS neither DEVICEbut in a new place LAB DF3i.

Scott’s DF3i it appears to be built to familiar specs, featuring its trusted TPT shaft and a Press Pistol II grip. The surprise comes in the alignment department, where he chose the rather busy DD alignment of LAB. It’s this kind of confusion that continues to make Scott one of the most interesting players on Tour. While he’s best known as a stickler, Scott has openly admitted that he often practices with a short putter, even when a long putter eventually moves on to competition.
It remains to be seen if DF3i finds its way into tournament play this week at Torrey Pines. Like our in-house expert Adam Scott, I’d be surprised if it did — and even more surprised if it lasted for long. That said, this is Adam Scott we’re talking about. He could absolutely commit to DF3i from here on out, and honestly, I’d be here for it. As Bobby Brown said, he doesn’t need permission, he makes his own decisions. This is his right. We’ll all be watching to see if the DF3i enters the fray this week. And if it does, don’t worry, I’ll be the first to tell you.
