Former World Nr. 1 Naomi Osaka stands only in this open American field.
The 25th rank Osak is the only woman last decade to win two open US championships.
Meeting the media in Flushing Meadows today, Osaka said she is in a good place physically and mentally and feels powerful working with the new coach Tomasz Wiktorowski, who instructed IgA Swiatek in numerous major championships.
“I think mentally, physically, I mean, I’m working with a new coach. He’s really great,” Osaka said. “I don’t know. He’s just too useful. He cuts into pursuit, and he makes me feel like a kind of a

“Physically, I feel really good. I feel like I’m going to balls very quickly, so it’s very useful, because it makes me feel not so pressure to try to finish the point. Given that we fit, like, plan our game, for what I’m playing, yes, it should be a really interesting tournament.”
Grand Slam’s four -time champion is going to an intriguing run in the Montreal final that ended up in controversy.
Eighteen-year-old Canadian Vicky Lundoko scored a stunning victory 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 against her tennis hero, Osaka, to capture Canadian Open and CAP a historic Cinderella story in front of a crowd at home. Lundoco defeated four Grand Slam-Sofia Kenin, Coco Gauffia, Elena Rybakina and Osaka-ena to that championship, becoming the second youngest woman in WTA’s history, after Serena Williams in the 1999 US Open to achieve that feat.
During the presentation of the trophy, Osaka spoke for about 20 seconds and failed to wish Canadian wild card for her daughters championship. Today, Osaka said she had mixed emotions over her latest run in Montreal, feeling both “shame” to neglect to congratulate Roko and success for securing a seed open because of its last end.

The day after Montreal’s final, Osaka issued an apology and congratulations to Social Media. Osaka said today that she feels “terrible” about the post -match speech and later spoke to the young man personally to offer congratulations.
“As, I feel really terrible if this, how, in some way, influenced her humble success,” Osaka said. “But she said she didn’t and she didn’t even really notice it, so I really enjoyed it. I also really enjoyed that she is such a sweet girl, who also made me feel terrible even more.
“Yes, I don’t know. I feel like me, I was just trying to overcome it as fast as I can forget a lot of things. And even going to the finals, I wanted, how, to potentially write my speech because I know how I’m talking and making speeches.

Osaka, who opens against greeting Minnen at Louis Armstrong Stadium, said she will make two adjustments the next time she plays a final: Write a speech in advance and “I will definitely remember my opponents.”
