Strength and conditioning coach Rob Acosta believes that Terence Crawford is on his way to trouble, and he has to show up by eating his way to the 180s for his September 13 match against Canelo Alvarez at Super Middleweight in Riyadh.

Too big, too fast?
Crawford ate his way to 168 because he has been gaining weight quickly since his last fight in August. He no longer looks tinted, and you can say that he has power feed. Crawford looks just like a typical fighter who has it have been on the feed bagto graze and think that he can turn himself into a super -middle weight by eating alone.
He says that Crawford will reduce to 168 to gain weight and then rehydrate to the middle of the 170s to challenge Canelo (62-2-2, 39 COs) for his belts. That extra weight Crawford tackles for battle will not turn him into another Gennadiy Golovkin power -wise. He’s not going to be like he’s never designed to be. He would be an overweight welter weight and very slow.
Crawford performs in a fight for the first time in his 17-year professional career and goes against a fighter who has competed in that weight for many years. In other words, it will not end well for the 38-year-old Crawford soon. He will be slower, weaker and get louder than he has been hit before.
“Crawford came from 154. He will skip 160 and go directly to 168,” said strength coach Rob Acosta said Fighting type About Terence Crawford, which is from 154 to challenge Canelo Alvarez for his united titles at Super Middleweight in September. “Let’s say Crawford walks around 180. He’s going to come down in the 12 rounds to make it 168. ‘
Crawford’s decision not to stop at 160 to fight one of the best guys in that weight class first was a mistake. If he was against the idea of taking a setup at 168 to wet his feet, he should have stopped at least 160 and fought January Alimkhanuly to get a feeling to get a bigger fighter with more power. Janibek is one of the biggest punchers at the middleweight, and he would have better prepared Crawford to fight Canelo at 168. Was Terence afraid to be exposed by a middleweight?
Eat up?
‘He ate his way to 180. Understand that. He didn’t work out until 180, ‘says Acosta.’ That’s the difference. So, if you are just going to eat, eat, you eat up to a heavier weight, if you assume because you haunted heavier guys, if you accept that you can act on a top level against a man (Canelo) who has been there several times and is very comfortable on this weight and comes from a heavier weight. It is a very different animal. “
Crawford who is the inexperienced, sluggish lester Martinez Spar, is not the same as fighting a killer like Canelo. If Bud has someone like haunted Osleys IglesiasIt would have been much better preparation for Canelo, but the man would probably beat Crawford in the camp repeatedly. The last thing Crawford needs is to get into the fight with Canelo who has been half -joint from weeks of sparring with Iglesias.
“The last two weeks of a lot of camp are always the most critical time, because that’s when the stupidest things can go wrong,” Acosta said. ‘It is very difficult to get within a specific timeframe from 154 to 168 and perform as if you were at 140, 147 and 154. We have already seen what happened when he went from 147 to 154. It wasn’t a bad performance.
‘Crawford took some good shots. He took them well. What do you think will happen at 168? Canelo was hit by GGG, one of the most difficult punchers in boxing. Do you mean to tell me that Crawford is just going to go up and clean him? I don’t see that happening.
“What is he (Crawford) going to rehydrate? 175? You walk around with that weight. Let’s see what happens if you are there with a top competitor like Canelo,” says Acosta.
