Erickson Lubin earned the mandatory place to challenge Bakhram Muratazalev for his IBF junior middleweight title by Ardreal Holmes Jr. In the 11th round of a title Eliminator to strike out in the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, Florida.
After the fight, Lubin (27-2, 19 cost) Murtazaliev (23-0, 17 CO’s) exclaimed, saying that he “stopped hiding,” and gave him a deadline until May 18. Bakhram probably hopes for something better than Lubin after beating former WBO 154 pound champion Tim Tszyu in the third round on October 19 last year. However, the achievement and the IBF’s 10-pound rehydration rule frightened the leading contenders for the division and other champions. Lubin is the best Murtazaliev, because at least he wants to fight against him.

In other interviews, Lubin hinted that he would box Murtazaliev and show him a different side of his game. We saw something of it in his fight against Jesus Ramos.
Boxing fans on social media do not give Lubin a great chance to beat Murtazaliev because he was folded in the past when he was fighting against big punchers. Jermell Charlo and Sebastian Fundora stopped him. Since his loss of Fundora, he has not fought anyone nearly as well.
Lubin did not do so well against Holmes Jr. He hit a lot, and was fortunate that his opponent was not a big puncher. Both Lubin’s eyes were severely swollen by the end of the fight, and you could see that he really had to push himself to win.
Lubin probably lost two of his last four battles because his 12-round victory over Jesus Ramos in September 2023 was a questionable one who could have done the other. If the judges got it right, the record of Lubin 2-2 would be in a collision against Murtazaliev.
