Steve Smith admits he is apprehensive ahead of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25


Australian National Cricket Team opener Steve Smith spoke about the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2025 against Indian National Cricket Team. He admitted that Rohit Sharma has played good cricket and is excited about the series.

India and Australia have had some intense battles over the past few years. The Rohit Sharma-led side has an edge over the opposition as they have managed to outscore the Pat Cummins-led side both at home and away.

The upcoming Test series will be played in Australia and India’s record in the last two tours has been sensational. They won two back-to-back series and the brand of cricket they played was praised by many. It was the second seeded Indian team who won the series especially as key players were injured in the last round.

This time it will be an interesting series. The battle between Indian pacers and Australian batsmen will be a key factor. Steve Smith in particular will be crucial to his team’s chances as he will have to play a big role in the absence of the retired David Warner.

Steve Smith believes that the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be a great series as both the teams have played excellent cricket in the last few years. He also mentioned that Rohit Sharma’s team has performed brilliantly in the last two rounds. Speaking to Star Sports, he explained:

“Yeah, I’m very excited. You know, it’s going to be a great series. You know, India play great cricket. We’ve been playing really good cricket for the last couple of years. You know, we’re undefeated. India have come here the last two times,” Steve Smith said.

Steve Smith further said that it is difficult to beat the Indian National Cricket Team and pointed out that they have beaten them both in India and Australia. He said that he is excited to play in the series. He added:

“I’ve got a great side. A very well-balanced team. All bases covered. So you know they’ve played some really good cricket here. They played good cricket when we were in India, we know it’s very difficult to beat there. So it’s going to be a great summer. It will be interesting. Yes, I’m looking forward to it.”

The five-match Test series between India and Australia will begin on November 22 in Perth. The focus will then turn to the day-night game and the second game in Adelaide from December 6.

India and Australia will then play at the Gabba in Brisbane from December 14, which will be the fourth Test. After that, the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) will be played from December 26. The final game will be played in Sydney on January 3.
