Sri Lanka names Odi and T20i squads for Pakistan tour; No place for Matheesha Pathirana



Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Announced ODI and T20I squads The upcoming tour of PakistanWith Charith Asualanka named captain for both formats. The tour will feature a three-match ODI series starting on November 11 with a T20I Tri-Series including Pakistan and Zimbabwe on November 11, followed by a T20I Tri-Series starting on November 17.

Matheesha Pathirana continues to recover from respiratory infection

A major setback for Sri Lanka is the absence of a star fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana from the T20I crew due to an upper respiratory tract infection. The pacer, known for his PACE and wicket-taking ability, will miss the tour as he continues his recovery. In her place, Asitha Fernando was included in the T20I squad.

Dilshan Madushanka was ruled out due to a knee injury

Additionally, key pacer Dilshan Madushanka has been ruled out of the ODI series due to a knee injury along with Eshan Malinga. The squads show a few other changes from the recent classes, with players like Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Janith Liyanage and Hemantha falling into the T20I squad replacing previous squad members.

The Sri Lankan teams include Kusal Mendis, Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana and experienced players who aim to challenge Pakistan on home soil.

Despite the injury setbacks, Sri Lanka are banking on their competitive squads to perform strongly against Pakistan in both the ODIS and T20IS and the Tri-Series. The delegations leave for Pakistan on November 8, 2025.

T20I squad: Charith Asalanka (C), Dasun Shanaka (VC) Pathum Nislanka, Kusal Mendis, Kamil Misara, Kamindu Mendis, Kamindu Mendis, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dushan Hemantha, Dushan Hemantha, Nuwan Thushara, Asitha Fernando, Eshan Malinga.
