SQAIRZ Goes Spikeless: Is this your new shoe for 2026?

SQAIRZ owner and founder Bob Winskowicz was, is, and forever will be a firm believer in studded golf shoes. He told me many times.

So why, then, as we approach the dawn of 2026, SQAIRZ is coming out with the first without spikes golf shoes?

“We’re not releasing a spikeless shoe for the sake of releasing a spikeless shoe,” Winskowicz tells MyGolfSpy. “We wanted to make sure that the traction system and the internal structure could facilitate the production of sufficient ground force.”

This is an answer that is completely on brand SQAIRZ. Whether you accept the performance or not, this is a hill the company will die on. Design goals focus on the holy trinity of stability, traction and balance, all in the name of producing downforce.

So yes, the new SQAIRZ SPEED3â„¢ SL shoes are studless. The company says they’re for walkers, rangers and any golfer who wants lightweight stability. Does that make it right for you? Let’s take a look.

SQAIRZ SPEED3â„¢ SL Spikeless Golf Shoe

SQAIRZ SPEED3™ SL shoes without studs: Nothing will break my stride…

I met for the first time SQAIRZ and its live founder at Demo Day during the 2019 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando. He gave me these square toe things that looked like something Fred Cox used to kick field goals with. However, once they were on their feet, the feeling of stability was immediate and, frankly, surprising.

Since that day, SQAIRZ has been a staunch advocate of durable traction shoes, which meant spikes at the same time as additional aggressive sole texture. The company has even doubled down by offering free replacement spikes for life.

In the latest shoe designs, SQAIRZ has used AI to create her own eye-catching sole, which has definitely opened the door to releasing a shoe without spikes. SQAIRZ SPEED3â„¢ The SL features the studless version of its SmartTraction outsole. That outsole consists of 290 studs of varying heights, computer-designed to maximize directional grip patterns during a golf swing.

Based on what goes into them, I feel bad just calling them weird.

New SQAIRZ SPEED3â„¢ The SL still has the square toe box, but the latest versions look a little less like field shooter shoes. The square toe box allows the toes to grow naturally, which is key to balance and stability.

Ain’t nobody gonna slow me down, oh no…

Another early hit SQAIRZ the shoes have been their weight. The first models were quite strong. Later models are significantly lighter and the new SPEED3â„¢ The SL might be the lightest SQAIRZ shoe yet.

The ripstop material on the upper is lightweight and breathable, and the company says it requires zero penetration. In addition, SQAIRZ includes an insole (the company calls it a “performance bed”) made of BROOCHES. This insert, which sells for $60 on its own, is standard with the SPEED3â„¢ SL and is designed to give you extra support and rebound while walking.

Blumaka has many notable professional athletes in her stable, most notably Kansas City Royals outfielder Mike Yastrzemski, the grandson of the Man They Call Yaz (We love me).

Hey, if you know, you know.

One touch I’ve appreciated about SQAIRZ since Day One is his Sta-Putâ„¢ shoe laces. The laces are wrapped with layers of silicone. Once you tighten and tie them, they stay tight and won’t come loose. It’s not quite BOA, but it’s as close as you can get with regular laces.

SQAIRZ has entered traditional brick-and-mortar golf retail, but is still primarily a direct-to-consumer online brand. Buying shoes you can’t try on can be a turn-off for some. SQAIRZ hopes to address this concern with a 30-day performance guarantee. According to the company, you buy the shoes and wear them for a month. If you don’t like them, return them, no questions asked.

SQAIRZ SPEED3â„¢ SL: Final thoughts, price and availability

With the new SPEED3â„¢ SL, SQAIRZ is clearly looking to expand, ahhtrace. The numbers don’t lie, and spikeless shoes make up 55 to 60 percent of annual golf shoe sales. Golfers love the exceptional comfort and convenience of not having to replace spikes. Of course, the irony of this is that you eventually have to replace your shoes, but that’s another story for another day.

Anyway, SQAIRZ is looking to attract a larger audience and SPEED3â„¢ The SL is the first in what is planned to be a larger line of studless shoes. The company has also expanded its performance shoes into baseball, softball and pickleball. SQAIRZ is the official licensed footwear partner of MLB Players, Inc., the business arm of the Major League Baseball Players Association. SQAIRZ XRZâ„¢ was named the Best Pickleball Shoe of 2025 by Pickleheads, which is, as best we can say, the MyGolfSpy of the pickleball world.

As for availability, the new SQAIRZ SPEED3â„¢ The SL is currently available in limited pre-launch quantities to SQAIRZ VIP Insiders (you can register here) with a wider launch in the coming weeks.

Two colors – Navy Surge and Bolt Blue – are available now. A Neon Midnight colorway is expected early next year.
