It has been a good start to the 2024/25 season for Unai Emery and Aston Villa, perhaps highlighted by the excellent form of Jhon Duran.
The Colombian has been an impact player par excellence, and so transfer market Note, he already has six goals in nine games, but has only played 297 minutes in those six games.
That’s roughly the equivalent of three and a quarter games in total, which is a sensational return from the 20-year-old.
Real Madrid looking at Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran
The highlight so far was undoubtedly the winner he scored against Bayern Munich in the Champions League tie in midweek (via Aston Villa YouTube Channel).
Emery has certainly been impressed by Duranand this has recently been reported Villa is not willing to sell a player who almost joined Chelsea and then West Ham last summer.
However, the Midlands side had clearly not had the interest of European and Spanish league champions Real Madrid.
According to sources with whom they speak Football Insiderwhite has a “concrete” interest in the player.
This will thrill the believing player’s uncle if his nephew works hard, he could still play for Real Madrid in his career.
Given how well Duran has played, one has to question why Emery isn’t giving him more minutes, especially since the club seemed to be doing everything they could to prevent him from moving elsewhere.
Chelsea were apparently unsure of his attitudeand given he was caught making the ‘Crossed Hammers’ gesture when Duran clearly thought he would make a move to West Ham, perhaps it is understandable why the player needs to repair the club before being released on a more regular basis.
With games fast and intense for the Villains in the few weeks following the international break, Emery will need all the help he can get from his squad.
If Duran continues on his current trajectory, Real could obviously offset their initial interest.
