Daniil Medvedev has crossed the fine line between genius and insanity.
Medvedev admits that crazy can consume him at times.

Medvedev overcame several code violations and harsh Italian Matteo Arnaldi 5-7, 6-4, 6-4, advancing to the round of 16 of the Rolex Shanghai Masters.
Afterwards, Medvedev said he resisted the internal emotional conflict between calm and crazy.
“Well, that’s the thing, you know, I’ve tried a lot of different things in my career, trying to stay calm, trying to be, sometimes, not trying, but sometimes I get really crazy,” Medvedev said to the media in Shanghai. “And I think, you know, what works is whatever you think will work in the moment. It shouldn’t cross the line, that’s for sure, because you can fail, and that’s not good. Today I didn’t.”
While the 2021 US Open champion said sometimes disagreements can get him fired, he knows crossing the line can lead to default.
“What I did was I got angry when I was told a violation, so it gave me the impression that I was saying something under my hand or under my mouth, as you say, but I didn’t say anything, I was. muttering something like, Oh, you’re bad, you’re bad, you’re bad,” Medvedev said. “Then I got the second code, which I think might have been, you know, maybe deserved, but then and then I I went crazy.
“But I knew that at this moment, if I manage the moment of the match, I lost the first set, if I can use it to my advantage, I could do it and I did, so sometimes I have to. I just have to not cross the line and be friends after the game, because that’s how sports work.

Medvedev will try to calm the chaos when he faces either 10th seed Stefanos Tsitsipas or Alexandre Muller for a quarter-final place.
“Tsitsipas likes to go forward, goes to the net. Tsitsipas, I think it’s been a while since we played,” Medvedev said. “Generally I enjoy playing him, but he is a very strong player, so he is a strong opponent for the fourth round.
“I played Alex this year at Wimbledon, and he played out of this world, and I was almost lucky, I mean, it’s not luck because I fought the best and I played well too, but he played very well at Wimbledon.
“So I will watch their game, I think they will finally play tomorrow because of the rain, so I will watch their game and prepare for the winner.”
