Jermall Charlo posted a video clip of him that hits the suitcase and prepares for his latest setup against travel man Thomas Lamanna on May 31 at PBC Prime video from the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas. Charlo looks in good shape in his training grip.
The gentle life
It still has to be seen whether he still has the talent he once had. He has not been living the life of a dedicated boxer since 2021. He enjoys the fruit a little too much and lives the Soft life of a semi-retired millionaireand not going to work again.
It is imperative that Jermall not only defeat Lamanna (39-5-1, 18 COs) next month, but that it looks impressive. Lamanna was knocked out by Erislandy Lara in 2021 in the first round. No one compares Jermall to the much more talented Cuban Lara, but he still has to have enough ability to work quickly from this man if he is to be taken seriously.
If Charlo defeated Lamanna, he could face Caleb Plant or Edgar Berlanga next. Both fighters are eager to fight against him and want to take advantage of his name recognition among older, hard box fans who still remember him as one of the top fighters at 154 and 160.
There is good money for Jermall to fight against one of them. When he gets past the guys, the possibility is that Canelo Alvarez will give him a chance. However, it will also depend that Jermall has not disappeared for 17 to 29 months as he has done over the past four years.
Another discharge
Charlo (33-0, 22 COs) has already fed a warm-up fight 16 months agoWhat Jose benavidez jr. defeated by a unanimous 10 round decision in his Comeback match on November 25, 2023.
He was out of the ring for 29 months. Now was Charlo Mia, which is a red flag that he no longer has the hunger he once had after the millions. Jermall was reportedly inactive due to injuries and personal problems.
He will become 35 on May 19, and like many older, inactive fighters, they often start breaking down at that age. It is old for a fighter, and it would not be a shock if Jermall could lose to the tomato on May 31. You can only go to the well so many times before it is dry. Jermall’s age and inactivity may have taken the best out of him and left him vulnerable to the veteran.
