control each week For the unjustified thoughts of our writers and editors as they break down the hottest themes in this sport, and join in the conversation by tweeting us to us in @golf_com. This week, we discuss Justin Thomas’s letter to its tour members, a solution to the pace of PGA Tour game issues and the return of Scottie Scheffler into action.
legalUstin Thomas sent a letter to his PGA Tour members Asking them to give more access and penetration to viewers at home through things such as before and in the middle of the round and the ways they can “best connect with fans”. While it is an important topic, do you think Thomas’s demand will work?
Zephyr Melton, Assistant Editor (@Zephyrmelton) :: Will the players be the most open for interviews? Maybe will it be all that extra? Maybe not. Like the side interviews with football coaches before the first half, there is no whole of much penetration that will be collected from a competitor in the middle of a competition. It will be a plus for broadcasts, but only very little.
Jack Harsh, editor of associate equipment (@Jr_bresany) :: The right-wing, pre-randy and mid-zephyr interviews will not be the addition of transmission. That is to say, I think there are other things that the good can embrace to get better with fans both in the course and in the broadcast. I think it starts with more players who are willing to be mic’d up during a round. Netflix did this and they succeeded with him for full activity, why not bring it to regular broadcasting? He also goes for things like interacting with fans along the ropes, not everyone will do it, but how much fans won Bryson Dechambeau when he called the boy who stole a golf ball that threw a child in the PGA Championship. More than this, please.
Josh Berhow, managing editor (@Josh_berHow) :: Playing Pro Golf is a job for these people, and it’s like any job there: some people take direction or hear guidance better than others. I am sure some will do this, but, as Zephyr said, some quick canned answers will not be viewers of penetrating home are hoping to hear. Why so many people like Max Homa or Joel Dahmen or Bryson Dechambeau? This is because they have a personality and are not afraid to show it. Hard is hard to produce it. Nice to see Thomas and/or the tournament realizing that it should be better, but there is a bigger conversation to have here and other issues that need adjustment as well (see below).
Talking about Thomas, one thing people have loved for tgl (shot clock) he said lately May not be perfectly translated into the game speed in PGA Tour. “You have to make such drastic changes for it to be visible,” he said. “Almost much of the conversations end the same way; liquefies like, what are we trying to get here? Will rounds be 12 minutes? Will they be 20 minutes faster? Great where people are like, wow, this is great. “This came only a few days ago CBS Analyst Dottie Pepper exploded slow game During the last round of farmers on Saturday. This topic has undoubtedly been beaten to death. Will we ever get somewhere here? What should happen?
Melton: They certainly understand a way to speed up the game because the current rhythm is unworthy. Fans don’t want (nor have free time) spend nearly six hours a day watching golf on their bed every weekend. Time is the time for PGA Tour to take drastic steps to speed up the pace – or otherwise risks losing even more eyes. MLB proved that drastic measures can be successful when they underwent regulation rules in 2023, including a pitch hour to speed up the game. It is time that golf follows the costume.
Hirah: I hate to say this because I hated this action, but thank you that next week’s pebble is no longer a more complete pro-am. These could have been six-plus-hour rounds at the weekend. Thomas is right, there are many boys who take a lot of less than 45 seconds to hit a blow in competition and still last so long. This should not be a prayer, but why is PGA Tour not putting more boys per hour and issues sentences? You can give the players’ fines, but what does $ 20k mean when you play for $ 20 million bags? Tighten your belts and start dropping shots because there is no reason I can’t take my home course in three and a half hours with three amateurs and the pros can’t reach five.
graft: Boys need to understand that they damage the product and they need the product to be viewable to make money from it. We can definitely get stricter in the implementation of sentences, but it is also very complicated. There are so many factors that go into slow rounds-many groups, par-5 accessible, complex decisions, etc. But there is also this: Playing fast is a skill. It has to be taught at a young age and something you continue to work for as you grow old. Baseball realized he was losing viewers and adapting. Golf should do the same even if it may seem extreme.
Netflix announced that The third season of its full swing“The documents will debut on February 25, 2025. What is your level of interest in the third season? And is there any difference you are hoping to see this time?
Melton: My interest in the show has been significantly faded since the first premiere season in 2023. Its’ is a show directed at casual fans, and as a “dies”, there is not much show I don’t know that already . I will throw it in the background while doing other tasks all day long, but it’s not something I will close every night.
Hirah: I’m saying this more often than I would like, but the zephyr is again. I’ll look at, but I’m not as invested as I was for the first season. The only thing I am waiting for is Scheffler’s involvement as he was largely missing the first time.
graft: Agreed. You also need something from Tiger. And it gives me home tournaments for these boys, the MTV-Pristrars style.
Scottie Scheffler is sEt to return to this week AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-AMending a month after surgery. Quickly, make your Vegas line for his 2025 season. What are you setting his over/under the total victory?
Melton: I will go with 4.5. Would it be an interruption compared to last year? Yes. Would it still be a heck of a season? Also yes.
Pond: 3.5. We have to admit how ridiculous his season was last year. This type of level is not stable, but it is even better than everyone else. Three or four wins is still an extraordinary year.
graft: I will go 4.5, and I would hit it.
Bonus Question: What is your boldest forecast of Scottie Scheffler for 2025?
Melton: it NOT Earn a major in 2025.
Hirah: It turns into a blade puter for at least one round.
graft: He wins two degrees this year (and the masters will not be one of them). I am also predicting that he will not be arrested.
