Sri Lanka continued their rule over it New Zealand on day 2 of the second Test with at the Galle International Cricket Stadium Kusal Mendis shining brightly as he reached a remarkable century. After previous attempts Kamindu MendisKusal’s performance, who also scored a brilliant century, highlighted Sri Lanka’s strong position in the match.
Kusal Mendis’ century: a landmark achievement
Kusal showed his exceptional talent by scoring a brilliant century on Day 2, scoring his 10th Test ton. Coming in at a critical juncture, Kusal was instrumental in Sri Lanka’s innings and reached three figures with a magnificent six over long-on. Glenn Phillips.
His knock of 106 helped shore up Sri Lanka’s total of 602 runs before declaration. Apart from adding significant runs to the scoreboard, Kusal’s performance also underlined his importance in the batting line-up as Sri Lanka aim for a decisive victory over New Zealand.
The declaration stops Kamindu Mendis from reaching the milestone
Meanwhile, Kamindu narrowly missed out on his first double century as Sri Lanka’s captain, not out on an admirable 182. Dhananjaya de SilvaA huge total of 602/5 made the strategic decision to declare the first innings. While Kamindu’s remarkable innings showcased his stamina and skill, the declaration came just as he was poised to reach the coveted milestone.
Although he was disappointed not to reach the double ton, his contributions were instrumental in laying a solid foundation for Sri Lanka in the match, setting the tone for the team’s dominance over New Zealand.
