New York – Italy Jannik the Sinner has cemented his place at the top of tennis by winning his second major title at the 2024 US Open.
The Italian, who topped the Hard Court Slams table in 2024, is also making a beeline for the year-end ATP No.1 ranking. The 23-year-old, who leads No.2 Alexander Zverev by over 5,000 points at the top of the ATP rankings, has won all six finals he has played in 2024. In addition to his two major titles, he has won two Masters titles 1000 and two 500 titles.
Sinner has a 2,885-point lead in the race for year-end No. 1.
Zverev is No. 2 in the race, with Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev at No. 3 and No. 4.
Zverev climbed two spots after the US Open to world No. 2, while Novak Djokovic dropped to No. 4.
The biggest mover inside the Top 10 was the American Taylor Fritz. Fritz climbed five places from No. 12 to No. 7 as a result of reaching his first Grand Slam final at the US Open.
There are still five Americans in the Top 20, with Tommy Paul (No. 13), Sebastian Korda (No. 15), Frances Tiafoe (No. 16) and Ben Shelton (No. 17) rounding out the group.
Draper enters the Top 20
of Great Britain Jack Draper jumps five places to make his Top 20 debut as a result of reaching his first Grand Slam semifinal in New York. The 22-year-old did not drop a set until the semifinals in New York, where he was defeated by Sinner in straight sets.
US Brandon Nakashimawho reached the round of 16 in New York, makes a career high ranking of No. 40. That makes six Americans in the Top 40 and eight in the Top 50.
Belgian players are also making a push after the Open.
David Goffin climbs 14 places to No. 64, his highest ranking since February 2023, after reaching the third round at the US Open.
Zizou Bergswho reached the second round at the US Open, reaches a career-high ranking of No. 72.
