Jannik the Sinner has confirmed it Darren Cahill It will not train him beyond 2025. The Italian confirmed the rumors after his four-set victory over Aussie Tristan Schoolkate on Friday night in Melbourne.
“He brought me so many things,” he said. “A year is still long. I don’t want to talk so much about his retirement. I feel very, very lucky and happy to be his last player on the tour. He has been a wonderful coach and person, not only for me, but for all the other players he has worked with.
“For me it’s just a great honor. We hope to have a good season. But let’s see. Let’s see what will come in the future. He has a beautiful family, so many great things about him even after his tennis work, right? Let’s see. But the year is still long.”
Cahill, regarded as one of the greatest coaches of all time, has coached Lleyton Hewitt, Andre Agassi, Simona Halep and Sinner to Grand Slam glory. The Aussie learned the art from his father John, a legendary Australian rules football coach.
The 59-year-old Cahill, a former world No.22, guided Sinner to the world No.1 ranking and two major titles in 2024. He is the co-coach of Sinner’s team, with Italy’s Simone Vagnozzi.
