On December 1, 2024, Global Sports Communication’s Sifan Hasan was named World Athletics’ Athlete of the Year, taking top honors in the off-field and overall categories during the final round of voting.

“I’m so honored,” Hassan said after receiving the award. “To be named World Athlete of the Year among such incredible athletes, especially in an Olympic year, means the world to me.”

This prestigious accolade caps a year marked by grit and determination.Hassan captured the world’s attention with remarkable performances in the 5,000m and 10,000m and finally a gold in the marathon, setting an Olympic record of 2:22:25.Competing in three different events, he took on an extraordinary challenge and inspired millions of people around the world.

“I used to watch marathon runners from a young age, wondering if I could ever run like them or even finish a marathon,” he shared. but it made every finish even more meaningful. It wasn’t perfect, but sometimes happiness comes from accepting imperfections. I’m so grateful, that this journey is recognized and celebrated.”

This award is more than a personal milestone for Hasan, it is an encouraging message for the next generation of athletes.
