Shubman Gill made a bold statement about his Rohit Sharma skip experience ahead of the Brisbane Test


Indian National Cricket Team batting sensation Shubman Gill released an official statement about the captain Rohit Sharma Skipping a practice session the day before the Brisbane Test against Australia National Cricket Team.

Shubman Gill also spoke about taking part in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 match against the Australian National Cricket Team at the Gabba in Brisbane for the first time since their historic win in the 2020-21 season.

Shubman Gill was asked about Rohit Sharma’s absence and the white-ball vice-captain revealed that the veteran batsman has already practiced enough for the match; so he decided to skip the optional practice session to keep himself fresh in the game.

“Yes, it was an optional practice session and I think he practiced enough,” said Shubman Gill, the Indian National Cricket Team’s batsman.

Notably, Rohit Sharma is going through a lean patch in Test cricket and has not scored in his last 6 Test matches. He scored 6, 5, 23 and 8 in the matches against Bangladesh and then followed it up with 2, 52, 0, 8, 18 and 11 in New Zealand. series. Gill further revealed that captain Rohit Sharma has high expectations from his batting order ahead of the third Test after the debacle in the pink-ball Test. He said:

“First we want to publish a large sum. We are a little more used to playing with the red ball during the day.”

The right-handed batsman missed the Perth Test with a thumb injury but recovered quickly and featured in the Adelaide Test where he scored 31 and 28 runs respectively.

Talking about his performance so far, Gill said that he feels good and is enjoying his time in the middle.

“Yes, I felt good while batting. In the first innings I was impressed by what was happening at the other end, I went into my shell and missed one straight.

“In the second innings, we all struggled to find the ball and its seam position. In general, like a pastry, you’re better off when you can see the seam. I’ve struggled to find that, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at the crease so far.”
