Newly appointed Indian Skipper Shubman Gill has closed his chances for any other controversial narrative following speculation over his strained relationship with former skipper Rohit Sharma.
As the series begins on October 19, India are in Australia for the much-awaited white-ball series. The Indian team is likely to stay till November 9 and will then fly again for a longer home series against defending champions South Africa.
So for Shubman Gill and CO, the next two months are packed with crucial international cricket action across all three formats. But for Indian legends Rohn and Virat, the focus would be only in limited-overs Odi matches.

Only the Tour of Australia has added another layer of anticipation because of the return of Rohn Sharma and Virat Kohli, but also the ICC World Cup 2023 finalist, India vs Australia, clashing another layer. Shubman Gill has been appointed as the new captain of the Odi side replacing Champions trophy winning Skipper Rohit Sharma.
Since the announcement, Indian fans have been divided between the BCCI’s move and BTSI, the Indian management, head coach Gautam Gambhir and Shubman Gill, another group criticizing the move. There is also speculation of a strained relationship between Gill and his batting partner.

“It’s very helpful. If there’s any observation he’s had, I’ve asked him if there’s any observation he’s had, ask him and ask him what he would do in a situation like that,” Gill reflected, likely reflecting on Rohit Sharma and former Captains.

While praising the two Indian veterans from the press conference organized for the start of the series on Sunday, he also saw it as his ultimate privilege to lead a team of two seniors.
Gill, the Kohli-Rohit Fanboy, is on track to become India’s all-rounder in the coming years. He has already commanded two formats and will be named as the skipper of the T20I side.
