“Honestly, I put my focus in my hand, iced it and suddenly we lost two wickets back to back. These things happen in the IPL and you have to be calm and cool in those situations. So the message was quite simple. Just take the game to the end and Cooper was there. He was quite ready. He was playing very well. He has a great mindset and I hope he continues in that form.” Iyer added.
The Punjab captain was particularly impressed with Connolly’s fearless approach against quality bowlers. He singled out a stunning six off Rashid Khan as one of the highlights of the match, calling it “phenomenal” and a testament to the youngster’s confidence.
Connolly’s innings not only secured the win but also signaled the arrival of a promising match winner for Punjab Kings this season.
“Watching some of the shots he played was surreal. It was unbelievable. Rashid, who is one of the best bowlers in the IPL, hit him for a six off the back foot so clear and neat, it was just phenomenal.” Iyer further added.
