Shreyas Iyer falls prey to the bouncer again, the short ball nightmare haunts him in the Buchi Babu tournament

Indian National Cricket Team batsman Shreyas Iyer has come under the scanner for his poor batting in the ongoing match against Tamil Nadu Cricket Association XI in the Buchi Babu tournament. The match between the two teams is played at the Sri Ramakrishna College Cricket Ground.

Shreyas Iyer, who represented Mumbai in the Buchi Babu tournament, did not fare well against Tamil Nadu. The middle-order batsman struggled to get going in the first innings and then came under the scanner to be dismissed in the second innings.

As his woes continued, Iyer again came out to the short ball. He turned into a striker in the second innings as the fielder used his weakness against him. He tried to play a pull shot but was caught inside the circle. Iyer managed just 22 runs as Mumbai remained under pressure.

Shreyas Iyer perishes while bowling a short ball against the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association XI in the Buchi Babu tournament.

We present the video:

Iyer was unable to counter the short ball regardless of the format. The right-hander often turned out similarly. He was also heavily criticized for not tackling the short ball well, which was one of the main reasons behind his fall in the Indian National Cricket Team.

The ongoing Buchi Babu tournament will be extremely important for Shreyas Iyer as he looks to make a comeback in the Indian Test team. Iyer was one of the side’s backs in the longest format of the game as he set the scene on fire replacing Ajinkya Rahane in the team..

Shreyas Iyer made an immediate impact Test cricket as he scored a century on debut. But after that he played some impressive innings for the team and bailed them out of trouble. He could not maintain consistency and was expelled from the team.

Iyer was dropped from the team after the two Tests against England, a series of low scores in the last few games and a poor record in overseas games. He was dropped after returning with scores of 35, 13, 27 and 29 in the first two Tests against the England National Cricket Team.

In all, Iyer scored 811 runs in 14 Tests at an average of 38.86, including a century and five fifties. A poor performance against the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association XI would not have done him any favors as he fights for a Test berth.

Iyer now wanted to make a big impact in Duleep Trophy 2024. He was included in the D team and will also captain the team in the tournament. Iyer would love to light the stage leading his team to victory and make a comeback in the Test team.
