control each week For the unjustified thoughts of our writers and editors as they break down the hottest themes in this sport, and join in the conversation by tweeting us to us in @golf_com. This week, we discuss Patrick Reed’s Ryder Cup perspectives, the addition of PCA-PLA Tour’s Pace-Play, a play-vag.-rector powder-up and more.
Patrick reed won Liv Golf Dallaswhich comes just days after he admitted that he may have to win or play well in the open championship in order to be considered for the US Ryder Cup team. With limited beginnings offering world ranking, if Reed is selected it means that Captain Keegan Bradley is likely to have to pass some players in front of him in the ranking. While there are still many golf remaining to be played in front of the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black, should Captain America consider joining the US team?
Jessica Marxbury, high editor (@Jess_Marksbury) :: I love reed has so much love for the Ryder Cup, but if Ryder Cup’s acceptability is an advantage for it, joining Liv was probably not the best movement. It is not impossible to make the team, but you definitely have to make your issue for an election by performing in diplomas, as Bryson has done. Or, you can go to a possible victory-with you win like Joaquin Niemann, who is not even right for Ryder Cup. The coalition with the team is another factor, a gray area for sure, but something that Keegan will have to consider with the choice of any captain. In spite of what they said, winning the open championship would go a long way to reed, but stopping that result, my assumption is that it is still on the outside looking in September.
Josh Sens, elderly writer (@Jossens) :: Another reasonable question is whether Reed still deserves the nickname “Captain America”. In his last appearance at the event, he lost twice in three games and – most importantly – it was not exactly Mr. Team Unity. He has played well in some of his last recent appearances. But as Jess says, he has not been the prevailing bryson level. At this point, the fact that he plays with a ton of fire is not a particularly compelling argument. There are many other boys who would kill to be in the team; who do not have the same luggage; And who would be so much possible to earn as many or more points.
Josh Berhow, managing editor (@Josh_berHow) :: Americans are betting favorites now, but one big reason for that is because it’s a home game. However, on paper, you can argue that Europeans have the best essence now. So is this a possible reason to use a choice in Reed if it is in the bubble? Or reason not to be beautiful? I think it is unlikely to become a legal conversation in the future because it will need a really strong performance in the open (it is likely to have to win) to be elected. But it is important to remember that chemistry matters. Reed did not exactly help the team’s connection to Paris.
That viral Padraig Harrington-Roger Maltbie Dust-up? Here’s what sparked
Some two months after PGA Tour allowed Rangefinders on the basis of proof, it has now made an attempt to Share the pace of specific data games During his telekast and also online on its table. (Although the game rhythm times will focus on entire holes or groups, not individuals.) Does this change anything for you or the average fan?
Marxbury: Not in particular. If it does not result in a host of sentences, I think the experience experience will remain mostly the same. Although I think having this data will be useful from a perspective of insights Course.
graft: A little more transparency is good, but I don’t see it as a tool of tool lovers, especially care for it. I think most just want golf to play quickly on TV and, the worst case, they want the names of slow players so they know who they complain about. Side Note: I was a burnt baseball fan a few years ago (or maybe this is just to be a supporter of Minnesota Gemini), but the pitch clock completely regenerated. Golf should speed it up, however the sport can.
sense: Ditto in the above. Only if transparency translates into implementation. I’m just seeing a few hours of this week’s Action on PGA Tour, and I had to fight by smelling as a player after the player went through a strict-putt agonizing routine. Is there any evidence to play slowly actually helps in performance? It seems to be the opposite. Play faster. Play better. Set up a more fun product. Everyone wins.
Still seeking his first victory since October 2023, Collin Morikawa has now parted with Caddy Joe Greiner after just five tours together. A week ago he experimented to play without gloves, and this week he changed putters. Are these changes for concern? Or just a competitor eager to find an advantage?
Marxbury: This looks like some world -class research. But I get it. As a young man, I used to have Shanks for almost two months. The only thing that finally got me out of it was to get happy gilm -style shakes for every blow. Maybe Morikawa just hopes to identify him a small thing that will give him his mojo again. And it’s not like him to have completely fallen off the map. Despite the changes, he is still playing a good golf. I’m not worried.
graft: He is not exactly going with full tin cup with tools attached to his visor, so there is no need to worry yet. These people are all so good, sometimes they are the smallest things, the smallest changes, that make the difference. Despite his decline without a victory, he has still been really good over the last two years. The sudden change of caddy can be a reason for concern, but only if it turns into a rotating door, and there is no reason to think yet.
sense: If he begins to pass his change from one pocket to another, we will know that he is in serious trouble. No doubt he is looking for. And the boy is a beautiful memory that at one point or another, this game makes a number for all those who play it, no matter the level. Wouldn’t it be nice to fight like Morikawa? Is it a cool heart for me to find it somewhat comforting?
Padraig Harrington Won the US Senior Open On Sunday, though he was also on Friday, when Harrington and NBC Roger Maltbie’s reporter exchanged after Harrington bored Maltbie did not help him look for a lost golf ball. Explained Maltbie His manufacturer instructed him to give a report what was happening, though Harrington told him it was “poor labeling”. What do you give?
Marxbury: I’m with Maltbie in this. I am sure that most of Kerffle stemmed from the fact that Harrington, in the heat of the big champion battle, was simply not pleased to receive a penalty for a lost ball. Maltbie is a professional who is there to do a job. He is not a discoverer and there were many others ready to help Harrington search. But hey, everything is fine that ends well, isn’t it?
graft: I would not expect Paddy to get involved in something (or even Roger!) So it was startling. If Roger were to be a serial offender not to help the good look for balls, we would hear them complain about it so far. We don’t have it, so I believe it as single. Plus, have you seen the upper goal of all people who help search?! An additional set of eyes wouldn’t do much.
sense: Forgive the metaphor but it looks like a case of Harrington losing the forest look for trees. Maltbie had a job to do. That job was not to look for Harrington’s ball.
Last week, we published part of the golf magazine that destroyed 50 best experiences in golf (A list compiled by our staff). What is the number 1 experience you checked? And what is a no. 1 Possible you would recommend to our loyal readers?
Marxbury: Such a great list! I will have to go with the opportunity to follow the masters. For a golf fan, it is really the last. All those who love the game want to go, and all those who have been want to talk about it. As for an accessible experience that I would recommend a lot, it is difficult to beat an extension of the golden clock end in your local-especially summer course.
sense: The one I want to check the most is to shoot my age. It means I have lived in 110 and I am still healthy enough to pass 18. As for the possible experiences, Trail Cabot in Nova Scotia is one of the most beautiful drives in the world. Get it from Cabot Cape Breton (Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs are both mustache) in Highland Links, which I would put there with pebble, bandon and a handful of others as one of the biggest public entry walks in the game.
graft: Visiting St. Andrews is up there. Of course, it would be good to play the course, but it is almost magical how the old morph course in a park was flooded with Sunday dogs. What a world.
