The National League Championship Game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Mets is underway.
Game 1 took place on Sunday and the Dodgers crushed the Mets by a final score of 9-0.
Shohei Ohtani has been in the baseball news spotlight for most of the season, and he’s likely to win the National League’s Most Valuable Player award.
Ohtani has been on fire lately, and he seems to strike out every time runners are in scoring position.
According to MLB Network’s “X,” Ohtani has an incredible stat line with RISP since Sept. 19.

In 21 appearances with RISP since September 19, Ohtani has an .842 batting average with 8 extra base hits, 24 runs batted in, a 1.895 slugging percentage and a 2.752 on-base plus slugging percentage.
This stat line is almost unbelievable, but it shows just how good Ohtani has been over the last month.
He was controlled by these NLDS standards against the San Diego Padres as he had 4 hits in 20 at bats with 1 home run, 4 runs batted in and 10 strikeouts.
Playoff baseball differs from regular season baseball in that teams throw their best pitchers and go for their high-leverage arms early and often.
Ohtani still had a respectable streak in the NLDS, and he was able to start the NLCS on a good note.
In Game 1 against the Mets, Ohtani went 2 in 4 with 2 strikeouts, 1 strikeout and 1 walk.
He’ll look to keep the hot streak going in Game 2 on Monday.
