Shohei Ohtani had an impressive home run record in 2024

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Shohei Ohtani had one of the most incredible seasons in baseball history in 2024 and will likely pick up his third MVP award because of it.

He became the first player ever to hit 50 home runs and 50 steals in a season and finished the year with his first win, but another impressive home run stat further proves how special Shohei is among his peers.

MLB Network shared statistics detailing how many home runs each team hit over 450 feet in 2024.

Ohtani himself had more hits than every team in the league except the Colorado Rockies, aided by the thin Denver air.

The Arizona Diamondbacks and New York Yankees had seven, and the Pittsburgh Pirates had five.

Ohtani’s 9,450+ homers are the most by a player in a single season since 2018, and it’s absurd to think Ohtani did that in a year while he was actively recovering from Tommy John surgery.

In 2024, he was so good as a hitter and baseman that it was easy to forget he was also a pitcher.

He should be ready to take the mound on Opening Day in 2025.

Ohtani gave fans a scare when he went down to the World Series with a shoulder injury, but he pushed through it before having surgery after winning the Fall Classic to repair what turned out to be a torn labrum.

While it was relatively minor surgery on the outside of his arm, it’s still another surgery on his resume that hopefully won’t stand in the way of becoming a two-way superstar in 2025.
