Ben Shelton Did Haudin’s best impression in Munich on Monday.
Innate joy It was the one who disappeared.
Shelton saved a trio of match points to defeat Croatian 4-6, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (3) in two hours and 23 minutes. There were a pair of matches in the second Tiebreak, with mouth doing everything, but finish the match before making a volleyball to giving Shelon his first repetition. Shelton treated the next point well, closing with the 6th before finishing the set.
In the last set, Gojo had another opportunity with Shelton serving 5-6, 30-40, but he sailed a long time.

“That was funny difficult,” Shelton said after his big escape. “The way he served, the way he played, even when he was upset. He just started hitting the winner. This was a difficult question today, to go against him. I was lucky in some great moments and kept my nerve down a few matches. I’m really happy to be in the second round here in Munich.”
Shelton, who saved nine out of ten rest points in the competition, will face either BOTIC van de Zandschulp or Roberto Bautista in the second round.
“I think this is the type of harsh victory that can push your season, or push your court swinging,” Shelton told Seb Lauzier from ATP media in court. “Strange things happen in clay. It’s not always straightforward. I am learning more and more every day like to play, how to move. I am just happy with progress. Obviously being the match points is never easy, and to come through it was a little lucky, but I am happy with the way I closed it.”
In other actions, Alexander Zverev twice performed the past Alexandre Muller 6-4 of France, 6-1.
Tallon Griexpoor, Miomir Kecmanovic and David Goffin also advanced.
