Excerpts:

Q. Shoaib Kamal, you are a renowned coach in the Indian cricket fraternity and have been an exceptional cricketer in the domestic circuit as well, please shed some light on your cricketing journey and how did it start?

Kamal: I was born and brought up in Allahabad (Prayagraj) and I was surrounded by cricket fanatics or cricket lovers and their involvement in the game also played a role in me falling in love with the game. the game of cricket. When I continued to play cricket and improved from gully cricket, I started training at the Madan Mohan Malviya cricket stadium, famous for nurturing budding cricket talent. Once I approached and entered the stadium as a player, the rest is history.

Q. What inspired you to take up the role of cricket coach?

Kamal: When I was playing cricket, of course my dreams were big, I worked hard and I am thankful to almighty God, my coaches and players who played with me. But an interception or a run hit that certain level of cricket is something I don’t think is my cup of tea.

So I decided to do something that interested me as a person and turned my passion for cricket into a profession.

Q. Why do players migrate from one state to another, something we have seen in UP cricket in the past?

Kamal: Look here first of all it is the population of the state because the population of UP is the highest in India, another thing is that cricket has grown a lot in western UP and not only in Purvanchal or Awadh region but also the opportunities and chances to do it. has a great influence on the team. It’s up to the player to expect to play for their state and if one decides based on the chances that he can improve by playing on another board, I don’t think we should have a problem with that.

Q. Please enlighten us about the selection process and trials we conduct at the local level and how do we select him from so many?

Kamal: See, selection has always been one of the most controversial issues in the field of cricket, but the selectors in the cricketing fraternity are so experienced and professional in their work that they can even predict a player’s caliber and timeline by looking at his position. and style of play.

And if the youngster is talented, they easily shortlist the player and accelerate the player’s cricketing growth.

Question: What are your thoughts on the appointment of Gautam Gambhir as the new head coach of India?

Gautam Gambhir as a player he has been a great servant to the Indian team and has an excellent record IPL as captain and mentor for the two franchises Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants. KKR are also the reigning champions of IPL 2024.

However, another aspect of his coaching position that needs to be considered is his loss Sri Lanka something that raises questions about performance in ODI series after two decades. So it’s really early to comment or praise about GG’s new work.
