Shane Watson backs Prithvi Shaw to be the hero of Indian cricket as he responds to Kevin Pietersen’s post.


Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has responded to Kevin Pietersen’s heartfelt words about India’s talented athlete Prithvi Shaw. Pietersen spoke about his great success stories in the sport when he took to social media.

He suggested that Prithvi Shaw needs good people around him who can guide him on the right path. Pietersen later called Prithvi Shaw a highly talented cricketer and hoped he has the right people to guide him.

“Some of the biggest stories in sports are COMEBACK stories. If Prithvi Shaw had decent people around him who cared about his long-term success, they would have sat him down, quit social media and taught him the absolute backside to be super. This will put him back on the right track where his past success can return ,” Pietersen wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Shane Watson has now backed Kevin Pietersen and claimed that Shaw needs a company of good people around him to turn things around. He even suggested that Shaw could become one of the greatest heroes of Indian cricket if he gets it all right.

“I totally agree @KP24 Prithvi (Shaw) is such a precocious talent and all it takes is for him to turn things around and become one of the biggest heroes of Indian Cricket,” Watson wrote on X.

Shane Watson spent a fair amount of time with Prithvi Shaw when he was the assistant coach of Delhi Capitals. The show was opening shots at that time. Watson has watched Shaw closely and knows his strengths well.

Prithvi Shaw is a very talented cricketer but has been away from the Indian team selection for some time now. He last played a T20I in July 2021. Despite being a highly talented cricketer, his form and fitness kept him away from success.

No bidders for Prithvi Shaw in IPL 2025 Auction

The 25-year-old recently faced embarrassment in the IPL 2025 Auction for not finding a taker. Shaw entered the auction with a base price of INR 75 lakh but did not find any bidders in the auction.

Prithvi Shaw played for “Delhi Capitals” until the last season. He played 8 matches in IPL 2024 and scored 198 runs at an average of 24.75 and a strike rate of 163.64. In total, he played 79 matches in IPK and scored 1892 runs at an average of 23.95 and a strike rate of 147.47.
