Furintown, without. – PGA Tour’s return to Philadelphia there was little of everything through three days in WISSAHICKON CLUB OF FILEDELPIA CRICKET.
But with the dust set after 54 holes, everything shows towards a player rising the Cricket Club trophy on Sunday while the Pennsylvania Sun fades: Shane Lowry.
A month ago, Rory Mcilroy ended his big drought in exciting fashion In 2025 masters. A week later, Justin Thomas best Andrew Novak on a Play off on RBC Heritage capture his first victory in nearly three years.
Like Mcilroy and Thomas, Lowry is in a drought.
Lowry and Mcilroy won together 2024 Zurich Classic, but 972 days have passed since Lowry won an individual event. This was the 2022 BMW PGA Championship in the Wentworth Golf Club on the DP World Civil Tournament. He has not won a PGA Tour event since the 2019 Open Championship in Royal Portrush.
Like Mcilroy and Thomas, the Lowry radius should end.
After the goal of a 3-nine-par 67 on Saturday, the Lowry will enter the last round of Sunday associated with sepp Straka in the 14th. Through three rounds, Lowry directs the field to strokes won: access and shocks: tee to green. He was set up on the board on Saturday while Mcilroy, Collin Morikawa, Patrick Cantlay and others were either stuck in neutral or were accompanied by the tournament.
The atmosphere, course and narrative of the exciting season of the PGA Tour 2025 say that this ends with Lowry celebrating in front of a crowd that seems to adopt it more and more with each round.
But it will not be easy. Taking him on the line is never, especially when nearly 1,000 days have passed since your last victory. Lowry’s most important mission on Sunday will be breaking a wall in which it is marking for 972 days.
“I just think you have to be persistent,” Lowry said on Saturday. “You have to continue putting yourself there, and eventually will happen. You look at Rory on masters a few weeks ago. Keep up knocking on the door, and you will eventually go through it. I feel like I did a good job this season, last season sometimes gets frustrating, but I’m in the final group tomorrow.
“I’ve played a good golf this year this year. I’m very happy with the way I’m playing this week, and I’ll go out and give my best. If tomorrow is good, it will be great.”
Lowry put himself in quarrel at AT&T Pebble Beach pro-am but lost to Mcilroy. He had a chance to enter the weekend at Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Valespar Championship, but faded. Even to the masters, Lowry was a factor until Sunday 81 filming.
Profit is also difficult for elite players.
Lowry’s task in a gem of golden age on Sunday will be widespread with challenges.
Has the course, an unknown test that has moved identities HOW Conditions have changed During the first three days of the tournament, including a change in green speed that disturbed the good on Saturday.
“They asked for different strategies or mentality (every day),” Lowry said.
There is Straka, who runs the field in deployment, is the sixth in the access game, and already has a victory this year in the American Express.
Straka has played excellent this week, but an even more dangerous predator removes three strokes after Justin Thomas.
World no. 5 scratched and collided to shoot a 4-nine-par 66 Saturday. With a fresh victory in his mind and his confidence growing up, Thomas’s presence in the manager’s table will make Lowry’s drought more difficult.
“It is a lot of confidence and confidence in my game and where everything is,” Thomas said of his level of faith on Saturday. “It doesn’t just happen by accident. I think it’s something you can do the best you can in terms of thinking in your way to be more positive, and good things will happen.
“Just just trying to take my game to a place near where you now believe I have to play golf. Don’t do anything special, don’t force the issue and just try to let things happen more often.”
Lowry knows that Thomas is in a striking distance, such as Keith Mitchell (11 under) and Hideki matsuyama (10 under).
But Sunday will be about Lowry, who said he has “started” from the 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome and is ready to see a trophy as a reward for his hard work.
He knows how to win. Even if a time has passed, the feeling never leaves you. Each player’s approach to the last round kaula is different.
For Lowry, 972 days of his last victory, the message is simple: Be Shane Lowry.
“Just allowing myself to be myself and play my game,” Lowry said. “I think, if I let myself be tomorrow, I can achieve what I want to achieve. It is a funny old game. There are definitely some of the best players in the world not far away from us. So, yes, I will give my best.”
