Shane Lowry stunned by Oasis journalist’s revelation: ‘Blasphemy’

The music world and the UK in general is still reeling from some shocking news that broke this week: Oasisthe biggest British band since the Beatles, announced a long-awaited and unexpected reunion tour.

The band, which includes disgraced brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher and split 15 years ago, have long declared they would never reunite, so the news has excited fans around the world. You can count the main Irish champion Shane Lowry between them.

But as he found out this week, not everyone is as tuned in to the big news as Lowry, including one golf reporter who ran into the 2019 Open winner before Championship tournament IN East Lake.

Ali McCann of Fanduel caught up with Lowry earlier this week to ask him a non-golf question: which celebrity would he like to have a drink with and why?

It wasn’t long before Lowry replied: “I’d like to have a drink with Oasis.”

When McCann appeared confused by his response, Lowry went on to say: “You know Oasis are back together? Do you know Oasis?”

“I don’t… no,” replied an increasingly embarrassed McCann.

“You don’t know who Oasis are? Oh God! For my god! You’re obviously a lot younger than me,” Lowry said as McCann apologized for her ignorance. “This is the biggest news ever. You should look up Oasis.”

After McCann promised to look for the group after the interview, a still suspicious Lowry turned to someone off camera and reiterated his shock.

“I don’t know who Oasis are. You don’t know Oasis, – Lowry said with a smile. “That’s, like, blasphemy.”

“I just ruined this whole interview, I’m so sorry,” McCann replied.

To which a laughing Lowry replied, “It’ll do just fine, though.”

Lowry, who is playing in his first tour championship this week, is seven under through two rounds and in line for a good match. FedEx Cup Payday on sunday evening.

The Oasis reunion tour, which will see the Gallagher brothers on stage together for the first time since 2009, kicks off next summer in the UK.
