Fans on social media are still skeptical that Shakur Stevenson will stay at Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Company for his next battle against William Zepeda on July 12.
Although he left the reports of Stevenson (leaving Matchroom, in which he said he still has a two-fold agreement with him and Turki Alalshikh), fans are not relying on the promoter, and he believes he is not coming over the real situation.
Shakur’s silence
What is strange is the silence of Shakur on the subject of his departure and signed with another promoter, Lou Dubella, for his title defense of his WBC lightweight belt against William Zepeda on the 12th card in New York. It is completely different from Shakur not to comment on rumors about him.
Fans are some silence on this as a confirmation that he has left the match room, but will still be on the 12th map of Turki, but with another promoter. It doesn’t matter to the average person promoting Stevenson. So, Hearn is exchanged for another promoter by Shakur, will not make a difference.
He still has to defeat the unbeaten Zepeda (33-0, 27 COs) on this card. The important person here is Turki. He is the one who can help Stevenson get the Gervonta Davis match later this year if he overcomes July 12.
Some fans do not think so, and feel that Hearn dances on the subject, hoping to solve things with the popular fighters shaking behind the scenes to keep him under his herd in the match room.
The unseen hand
Hearn’s regular mention of Turki as he talks about Stevenson, some suggest that he hope to keep him on board for the second battle of his two-fold agreement.
Some fans consider Stevenson that he betrayed Hearn, and feel that he should have stayed with him to complete his contract with two struggles instead of droping the ship after one fight against electrician Josh Padley.
