Promoter Eddie Hearn chooses Shakur Stevenson, the WBC lightweight champion to choose William Zepeda apart, and strikes him in the later rounds of their battle on July 12 in Queens, New York.
Shakur’s bumping force
Hearn says fans do not realize that Shakur (23-0, 10 COs) is a puncher who happens to have good technical skills. His last fight against Josh Padley showed his power when he stopped with a body shot in February.
What prevents Stevenson from being more of a puncher is its brittle hands. He has had hand problems for some time now, and he only seems to be able to throw power to the body with power. It is a safe area for a warrior with fragile hands to throw.
“I actually think Shakur is going to stop Zepeda. I know that people have the perception that Shakur is not a puncher. He is technically fantastic, but I think the style of Zepeda will suit him,” Eddie Hearn told the Ring Magazine Youtube Channel, which predicts a win for Shakur Stevenson over William Zepeda.
The knockout victory that Shakur picked up in his last battle against his late replacement, Josh Padley, may have given Hearn a false impression. It was ordinary old -fashioned matches at the game. Hearn chose a part -time boxer from the UK as the filled out when the originally scheduled opponent, Floyd Schofield, pulled out. Afterwards, it was a happy interruption for Shakur.
If Stevenson is in the bag trying to beat Zepeda, he will touch with the combinations of the Mexican Brawler with combinations. The only way Shakur can exist in the bag against Zepeda is if he does a lot like Tevin Farmer to survive.
“He’ll pick him up. I think he will hurt him to the body and I think he will stop him in the fight because Zepeda is a proud man. That’s why I like this fight so much, ‘says Hearn.
Stevenson’s body shot strategy
Stevenson cannot stand in front of Zepeda and pick up with body shots as against the electrician Padley. It won’t work. He will be hit too much and forced to move out of the bag to escape from the lawline of the push that Zepeda will throw. If you stand there, you ask for Shakur problems.
