Veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan dropped Akash Deep’s regulation catch to deny Taskin Ahmed a deserved wicket. Shakib caught during the morning session of Day 2 of the first Test between India and Bangladesh in Chennai.
During the fifth ball of the 85th over of India’s first innings, Taskin Ahmed hit a short length ball to Akash Deep who was trying to lift the ball towards mid-on.
But the ball hit the upper part of Akash’s viper and went up in the air. Fielder Shakib Al Hasan ran back to square leg but tried to catch the ball. But she never settled under him and seemed uncomfortable.
The left-hander tried to catch the ball over his shoulder, but ended up dropping the ball. The ball was in the air for a long time and Shakib had enough time to get under it. But in the end, bowler TaÅŸkin Ahmed was disappointed.
