“After the heartbreak of last year and the pain I’ve been through for the last four or five years, I’ve accepted that I need some repairs. I did it, I rebuilt on my own in silence and darkness and was able to race again.”

“It was a relief. I didn’t tell anyone, but I haven’t thrown a javelin in four and a half weeks. I was trying to find my head there. I am delighted with the victory, but I always strive to improve my performance and the world record more and more.

“I am over the moon. I am so, so happy and honestly I can’t believe it. I didn’t expect that far. I wanted 16m and wanted to push to LA where I’d hopefully hit 17m, but that’s setting our plan back quite a bit.

Victoria Levitt

T44 100 m 13.22:

“I’m still in shock. I can’t believe this is what I walked away with. I just wanted to go out first, make it to the end, and then when I crossed the line and didn’t see anyone else, I said, “This means I’m first.” Being world champion is probably the scariest thing I’ve ever heard and it’s probably going to take a while to sink in.”
