Sergio’s new secret golf ball requires a $2,800 membership (but you can’t buy it anyway)

Sergio Garcia’s bag is it starts to get a little wild.

He has switched from TaylorMade P7MB to LA Golf irons which in itself is an interesting story. He is now playing CB-26 (4-in 6-iron) and MB-26 (7-PW).

He’s gone from a Never Compromise Reserve 4 to a Golfyr The Maker Tour, a carbon offering he helped design.

And then there’s his golf ball.

Instead of playing a TaylorMade TP5, Garcia is playing a Underground golf ball.

say what now

A members-only golf ball for beautiful people

Underground Golf is a new brand – and exclusive membership club – founded by actor Mark Wahlberg (verified golf sicko), Garry Singer (former co-founder of Clear Golf Balls) and Doug Meijer (owner of Meijer supermarkets).

First of all, what a trio. I didn’t have this on my 2026 bingo card.

The three avid golfers connected in Florida and decided to build an invitation-only golf club centered around a premium golf ball that they reportedly spent a pretty penny to produce.

The ball will not be sold in stores. If you want it, you should be invited – and apparently it will help immensely to be an athlete, entertainer, entrepreneur or otherwise well-connected in the upper echelons of society. Everyone starts processing your resume.

Buy if you are invited? 2800 dollars.

That gets you a year’s worth of balls (12 dozen boxes) and a custom-made overnight bag that has polos and workout shirts (including some from Wahlberg’s Municipal brand), a hoodie, a ball marker, a divider tool, and gift cards or sneakers.

The balls started shipping in April, though Garcia has already put them into play at LIV Riyadh.

A brand new Underground Golf Instagram account went online this week. The first post shows Wahlberg promoting the new ball. A second post shows Garcia doing the same.

The Underground logo? It looks like the top of the manhole cover, hinting at the brand’s exclusivity (or the Ninja Turtles involved).

Who exactly is being invited? Although we are not sure I came across this post on Instagram from hockey player Jacob Trouba who said he was inside.

OK, but what about this new golf ball?

Oh, you wish you knew. You peasants would kill just to cut one of these $10 desert balls. Go to Wahlberg’s Delray Beach mansion and start begging!

Similar to Fight Club, details are sparse.

The ball is made in the same Taiwanese factory that produced the Clear balls and is said to have strict protocols in their sorting process to ensure each batch is perfect.

There will only be one version of the ball for 2026. A second ball is supposed to come online in 2027.

“My time at Clear gave me definitive confirmation that there is a demand from players for ultra-premium products and they don’t mind paying a bit more for them.” The singer told Forbes. “They also want to have something that other players don’t have and can’t get.”

Ah, yes, of course. They used to charge a $1,200 membership fee to play their ball. Three-piece Clear ES and four-piece CS with molded urethane covers went for $68 per dozen.

Now you can get them for $30 a dozen in under 70.

Charl Schwartzel was an early adopter before COVID, but he was pretty much the only one in the professional game.

OK, so exclusive ball access didn’t exactly take off for Clear.

Will Underground Golf be any different? Will someone invite send us a ball for testing? Does my Costco membership get me anywhere here?

These are the questions we will ask.
