Sergio Garcia began his Liv Golf season in 2025 in excellent form with a 6th place in Riyadh, followed by an 18th place in Melbourne. At its third beginning, in Hong Kong, Garcia won three in the back of a final round 63.
After this victory, Garcia, who is the leader of Europe’s Ryder Cup Cup points, was asked if he was hopeful he was Luke DonaldThe European captain of 2025 had kept the tabs in the form of Garcia.
“I think he’s watching,” Garcia said. “We’ve been in touch, so I know he’s keeping a look. The only thing I can do is continue to play good golf, and I just want to help the European team as I have tried every time I have been a member of this team, and I hope he is good enough for him.”
Donald said in October that he would have “some conversations” with Garcia about the potential for returning the Spaniard Ryder Cup, but that every back road will have to start with Garcia reuniting at the Tour World DP. A month later, Garcia did only after paying the fines he had suffered playing for Liv Golf. The wheels were officially in motion.
At the beginning of this week in PGA championshipDonald did not specifically spoke about Garcia’s chances of winning one of Donald’s choices (there are, of course, many many golf to play for that kind of speculation), but the European Skiper said, given the wild environment the players will meet at Bethpage Black in September, he will give little importance to experiences, Great, which will give more than big people, people, who will give more than more than “, will give more importance to this, who will give more than” who can grow, has had the chance to win or have gained great championships.
Advantage, Sergio? PERHAPS
A couple of beginnings after Hong Kong, Garcia placed another level on his belt when in the event in Miami, Livi, in a difficult makeup of Trump Doral, he finished third. After the second round that week, a reporter went so far as to ask Garcia if he felt like he was playing the best golf of his career. “I definitely feel very comfortable about how I played the last year and a half,” Garcia said. “But I still think 2008 was my best year, the way I felt there with my game.”

But then a barrier came: a 72-76 week in Masters and a lost cut. Two weeks later, at the Livi Mexico City event, more mess: Garcia ended the 50’s, only four places outside the end, followed a week later by a T42 in Liv Korea.
This leads us this week to the PGA Championship, the tournament in which, in Medinah in 1999, a 19-year-old Garcia Scissor-Goded his way to a stimulating runner. This week at Quail Hollow, however, Garcia has not produced any such fireworks, starting with a seven-Bogey 75 on Thursday. Garcia jumped back to the second round with a 68 before regressed with a 79 -round round that included a pair of double bataks. On Sunday morning, he sailed through his first 15 holes, making six birds against only two Bogeys, but then moved to 16, where he sprayed his approach fired along the way to a double slap. He ended with a two-nine year and seven for the week.
Afteward, Garcia was asked about any positives he could remove from his performance.
“Not too much,” he said, before quoting you by making the cut and “not ending the last Sunday. But besides, not much more. Too terrible shots.”
As for his Ryder Cup chances? Garcia did not wear sugar.
“The way I am playing, even if Luke offered me a choice now, I would say to him no,” he said. “Of course, I have to get better. I have to get more where I was a little money before the masters. You know, just tell yourself and tell everyone that my game is strong, and it can help the team Europe. It is just as simple as it.”
Attempt for Garcia: He still has time to run the ship, including, potentially, two larger beginnings. Weaknesses: He will have to play his way to the last two degrees of the season, US Open in Oakmont and the open championship in Royal. If Garcia does not qualify for anyone, it will become much harder for Donald to appreciate its shape.
Garcia remains hopeful.
“There are still two or three months until the team is over,” he said. “I will have time to win a confidence and improve a little in my game.”
