An old Arsenal explorer has revealed that the Gunners went on to sign the Paris Saint-Germain star, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, before his career.
Kvaratskhelia, a 70 million napoli pound signing in January, played a dazzling role in the triumph of the PSG Champions League semifinal on Arsenal, after having tasted the Gloria A with the Parthenopian in 2022/23 in his first season at the club.
His career could have seemed so different. Former Tomasz Pasieczny admitted Arsenal Scouting after Kvaratskhelia during the early stages of his career, with Rubin Kazan and Dinamo Batumi, only for a particularly puzzling performance to leave him bewildered to recommend the wing.
“I was in the old Kazan stadium to play a game with Dynamo Moscow, where Sebastian Szymanski played at that time, said Pasieczny Worse. “Khvicha left the bench, made two completely fruitless dulls, and fans reacted very negatively. At that stage he could not cope.
“Every next step was bad, from the beginning to the end. He was lost, the ball bounced him, you could see that he had lost confidence. He was exaggerated. I started paying more attention. He overcome it, but if I had continued, it would have been a crazy problem.
“ In the case of larger clubs and longer observations, you see a player often and do not make a report based on a report. Follow his development because you know that something can come out -it is not as if someone went directly from Kazan to a higher team. Everyone knew that it would be good mega, but they were asked how good it would be the absolute top or a little lower.
“However, at that stage I had to write what it is like, to draw conclusions, write where the problems are.”
Kvaratskhelia left Russia in March 2022 to join -Batumi in his native Georgia, but was moving a few months later, when Napoli took the risk and paid a rate of £ 10 million to sign the end that summer.
He won the MVP Award from Series A in his first season in Naples and has passed from force since then, forming a key part of a PSG attack line that is betting on lifting the Trophy of the Champions League at the end of this month.
In the meantime, Arsenal took the Brazilian Marquinhos origin in the summer of 2022, before leaving Leandro Trossard in the middle of the next campaign.
