it It had to be the light part. Hard work – preparation, 72 holes, nerves – that is over now. The whole Scottie Scheffler had to do was setting up a trophy. Easy, right? Well
Scheffler had Just won the PGA 2025 championship to look for his third major and first non-Master victory. He directed from the three entrance to the last round at The empty quil In Charlotte, NC, briefly connected to Jon Rahm on the back nine Sunday but eventually won, barefive.
After he celebrated, the embraced family walked to score and made them all official, he turned into 18th green for the presentation of the Wanamaker trophy. After a brief presentation, Scheffler walked in green, took the trophy and proudly displayed it for the crowd.
So far, so good.
CBS Sports reporter Amanda Balionis asked Scheffler some questions, one about his game and another about his long -term golf coach, Randy Smith, who was standing close. Eventually, she put a bow on the celebrations.
“Incredible victory,” she said. “These fans want to see it once again, Scottie Scheffler. Discard it Wanamaker Trophy and enjoy your first PGA Championship victory!”
Balionis released a laugh as she said “victory” because it was at the moment when Scheffler raised Wanamaker again – just to remove the top of the silver container massif. It was quickly taken and settled back in place.
Scheffler, however, is not just when it comes to this difficult Wanamaker moment.
The same thing happened Collin Morikawa When he raised the trophy after winning the PGA 2020 champion at the TPC Harding Park and also in Rory Mcilroy when he won the PGA in Valhalla in 2014.
“They told me it’s heavy; they didn’t tell me the lid comes out,” Morikawa said Wednesday. “But it is heavier than you expect. And then they tell you to lift it over your head.”
But don’t blame these boys. Wanamaker, as Mcilroy said in front of the tournament, is “beautiful flesh”. 29 is 29 1/2 inch high, treat 27 inches to handle and weigh 27 pounds.
At least when it comes to these trophy mistakes, Scheffler has good company.
